About

MRI Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) has become a major diagnostic imaging modality over the past 30 years. It has a superior soft-tissue contrast compared to other radiological imaging modalities and its physiological and functional applications have led to a significant increase in MRI scans worldwide. Improvements in technology have resulted in faster imaging sequences and clinical systems with field strengths of up to 3 Tesla.   Unfortunately, the number of reported safety incidents has increased significantly. A comprehensive MRI safety training to protect patients and other healthcare workers from potential bio-effects and risks of the magnetic fields in an MRI suite is therefore essential. The ‘MRI Safety in Clinical Practices’ is a program for delivering the knowledge of MRI Safety to all healthcare professionals who work in the MRI environment directly or indirectly. This program is held as an effort to increase awareness and highlighting the important of practicing MRI Safety culture in Malaysia for now and future. This program is organised by Department of Radiology, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences with a collabration of Department of Radiology, Teaching Hospital Universiti Putra Malaysia every 2 or 3 years. This program consist of courses and conferences that covers all major aspects of the most current information on MR Safety.
